Hello, I’m Bella, the heart and soul behind “For The Love of Crete.” Born and raised on the island of Malta, I’ve always had a deep connection with Mediterranean life. But it wasn’t until 2022 that I discovered my true spiritual home – the enchanting island of Crete.
A Love Story with an Island
My first visit to Crete in 2022 was nothing short of transformative. From the moment I set foot on this blessed land, I felt an immediate and profound connection. The rugged landscapes, the azure waters, the rich history, and most importantly, the warm-hearted people of Crete captivated my soul in a way I had never experienced before.
Since that fateful first trip, I’ve returned several times, each visit deepening my love and appreciation for this extraordinary place. It’s no exaggeration to say that nowhere else have I ever felt more at home than I do here in Crete.
More Than Just a Destination
For me, Crete is more than just a beautiful holiday destination. It’s a sanctuary, a place of healing, and a source of endless inspiration. I firmly believe that when life gets tough, a trip to Crete can soften the blow of any hardship.
There’s something truly magical about Cretan hospitality, or φιλοξενία (filoxenia) as the Greeks call it. The warmth of the people, the healing foods straight from the land, the abundance of nature, and the pervasive sense of peace and tranquility are unmatched anywhere else in the world. In Crete, I’ve found a place where the soul can truly rest and rejuvenate.
Crete is not just a place… it’s a feeling.
A Passion for All Things Cretan
My love for Crete extends to every aspect of its culture. I’ve even embarked on the journey of learning the Greek language, immersing myself deeper into the local way of life. With each new word I learn, I feel a stronger connection to this island that has stolen my heart.
As I often say, “I was not born in Crete, but Crete was born in me.”
My Mission
Through “For The Love of Crete,” my mission is threefold:
1. To help others experience Crete authentically, beyond the typical tourist trails.
2. To share my passion for this blessed island, its culture, its people, and its way of life.
3. To build a beautiful community of Crete lovers, united by our shared adoration for all things Cretan.
